In honor of my daughter - who has no doubt kept me alive, when I thought I wouldn't live to see 30.
When I'm at the pearly gates
This'll be on my videotape
my videotape
Mephistopheles is just beneath
And he's reaching up to grab me
This is one for the good days
And I have it all here
In red blue green
Red blue green
You are my center when I spin away
Out of control
On videotape
On videotape
This is my way of saying goodbye
Because I can't do it face to face
No matter what happens now
I won't be afraid
Because I know today has been the most perfect day I've ever seen.
This evening I was wandering around in a bookstore with Tay - (one of our favorite activities) and of course I was in the music section, checking out various Bios/Diaries of musicians and I look up and it's there looking at me..dead children playing. Stanely Donwood and Dr.Tchock (aka thom yorke) have created a hauntingly beautiful book full of the dark, layered paintings and handwritten thoughts. An understanding / new perspective of the paintings can be gained by reading what prompted the artists in their words. Anyway, if you appreciate art, you will no doubt be moved by this work.
Of course T got a couple of WWII books, which she can't seem to get enough of. I'll have to count the WWII books, movies and memorabilia and see where she's at now...she is borderline obsessed. It's ok, better than being obsessed with makeup or boys or many of the things kids her age are into. I'm glad that, at least for now, she is just following her own path. Not my path, not a friends..just hers.
